Where the data comes from
We read official websites: government departments, regulators, and the bodies they publish through. We read them on a schedule, and again when a new document appears.
The documents cited on this site so far come from:

How a claim is checked
- We open the document on the website of the body that issued it, and note the date we read it.
- We write one short English claim and keep the sentence from the original that supports it, word for word.
- Before the claim goes on a page, we check that the sentence is really in the original.
- If we have only seen a document copied on another website, we do not use it as the source of a claim.
Every footnote shows the claim, the original sentence, the publisher, the document number when there is one, the date of the document, the date we checked it, and a link to the original.
Each tracker says when its data was last checked ("data as of"). We aim to check every tracker again at least every 45 days. Rules change, so if a date looks old, read the original.
What we don't do
- We don't forecast prices or give investment advice.
- We don't publish a claim we can't trace to an official original.
- We don't publish pages we have not read and checked.
- We don't set cookies, run analytics or load third-party scripts.
Our English is a summary. Where it differs from the Chinese original, the original is right. The short editor's note at the top of a tracker is the editor's own judgment and is marked as such.
How to report an error
Email [email protected] with the page address and the footnote number. We read the original again. If we were wrong, we fix the page and record the fix in the changelog below.

Questions
- Where do the numbers come from?
- From documents published by Chinese government bodies and regulators on their own websites. Every number on the site has a footnote that links to the original.
- Why is the footnote in Chinese?
- Because the original is the authority. The English claim is our summary of one sentence. If the two seem to differ, the Chinese sentence is right, and we would like to hear about it.
- How do I report an error?
- Email [email protected] with the page address and the footnote number. We read the original again and fix the page if we were wrong.
- Do you track visitors?
- No. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or third-party scripts. Fonts are served from this site.
